MAGNOLIA MANOR of MARION COUNTY HOSTS OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATING RENOVATION AND EXPANSION

Magnolia Manor Corporate Office, Americus, GA, April 2, 2018

You are invited to an Open House and Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting from 2 PM until 5 PM on April 10 at Magnolia Manor of Marion County, 349 Geneva Road, Buena Vista. Light refreshments will be served as guests tour the renovated and expanded facility. “The Marion County Hospital Authority and Auxiliary, and the entire Magnolia Manor family have worked hard to get us to this point, and it shows.” says Mark R. Todd, President and CEO of Magnolia Manor. “We are very pleased with the results and hope you will be too!”

For more than an year, Magnolia Manor of Marion County has been looking forward to this day. Anyone who has driven past the facility has seen the  building construction and now the newly paved parking lot, but  most of the work has gone on inside the building  and is not visible to passing vehicles.

They have renovated the main entrance and created a more functional reception area and comfortable office space for consultation with residents and their families. There’s a fully equipped rehabilitation area and program for use by both residents and outpatient members of the community. There’s even a garden with uneven walking paths to help persons recovering from strokes or surgery to build strength and learn new balance techniques.

They have also added a 14-bed specialized memory care unit with an enclosed garden area that allows residents to enjoy the outdoors without fear of getting lost. The  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects the number of Americans with memory issues to almost triple by 2050, so this new  program is a timely addition to the services of Magnolia Manor of Marion County.

After being recognized as Volunteers of the Year by the Georgia Healthcare Association, the Auxiliary has been actively raising money for a special project—a Snoezelen® multi-sensory machine. This device can help calm dementia residents using movement, colored lighting and sound; and it produces results that are nothing short of miraculous. This is also part of the new memory care unit.

“I think everyone will be pleased with the changes we’ve made to the building, and with the programs we’ve added,” said Angela Watkins, Administrator. “We are proud of our dedicated employees and their focus on resident-centered care. Magnolia Manor is committed to delivering the highest quality service in the best environment we can, so this project is another example of that commitment. ”

Magnolia Manor of Marion County is a licensed 70 bed skilled nursing center located in Buena Vista, GA. The campus has been recognized as a recipient of both the Bronze and Silver National Quality Awards by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living.

With eight locations across South Georgia, Magnolia Manor serves about 1,300 residents daily. The organization is  a faith-based, non-profit  501(C )3 organization, serving persons of all faiths and does not discriminate in the provision of programs or services.
