Fortunately, there is a mind-boggling array of resources available to help make every day count. There is definitely something for everyone, no matter where you are in your senior living journey.

Older adults are more tech-savvy than ever, making it easier than ever to access the myriad online resources now available. Pew research reports that, “Beyond increasing communication, seniors are using social media to explore different aspects of aging – especially through blogs.”

So, who can you trust for essential information and guidance? And where can you find resources to stay in touch with trends, quench your thirst to learn new things, or simply tickle your fancy? We combed the options and created this short list of top senior living resources.

If you had to choose just one resource, the American Association of Retired Persons is the best-known and most comprehensive senior living resource. You can join AARP as young as age 50. It’s very inexpensive, but much of their content is available to non-members anyway, and it’s all free. AARP offers comprehensive information, tools, and discounts geared toward seniors on every imaginable topic. Some of their resources include:

  • AARP the Magazine (monthly, for members only)
  • AARP Bulletin (bi-monthly, members only)
  • The Ethel, (monthly e-newsletter by and for senior women, featuring personal stories, realistic advice, and opportunities to connect)
  • Senior Planet promotes “aging with attitude” with tech-based fitness and wellness classes and digital skills training. The Senior Planet blog “tells it like it is” on senior lifestyle topics from health to dating and sex, entertainment, travel, and even fashion.

However, there’s no reason to limit yourself! You can connect with as many online, on paper, and in-person resources as you have time and interest for.
