Senior Living Explained
Learn what different types of senior living care are available and which one best fits your needs now and in the future.

Should you move into a senior living community? The decision is highly personal, so you’ll need to consider many different elements. That requires research and asking questions. Lots of questions. Some will be very specific to your own circumstances, but there are also basic fundamental questions that reflect every senior’s concerns.
Here at Magnolia Manor, we meet with prospective residents and their family members every day, providing tours of our eight unique campuses in South Georgia while providing answers and, perhaps more importantly, insight into frequently asked questions about senior living. Here are a few of the questions we hear:
Life at Magnolia Manor can be as busy and bustling, or quiet and low-key as you prefer. Every day is different, just like it may be where you live now. Here, there is always a flurry of activity in our communities, with ample opportunity to meet and engage with other residents. The key word here is opportunities -- you’ll never be forced to participate in events. You can spend quality time on your own, or branch out and try new activities. Learn a new hobby. You have the power to shape your days as you desire.
When you first arrive, members of our team will introduce you to key staff as well as many of your new neighbors. So right from the start, you’ll always have a friend or trusted team member to count on! Of course, your friends and family are always welcome to visit and spend time with you on campus, too.
No. Some senior living communities do require a substantial buy-in, but Magnolia Manor does not. However, some of our communities do require a modest deposit. The amount varies, depending on which campus you choose. Contact the campus you’re interested in for information about pricing.
Magnolia Manor residents are never tied to a long-term lease. Instead, all residents pay month-to-month rent.
This is something you want to examine closely because it is one of the biggest sources of confusion about senior living communities such as Magnolia Manor. At a glance, the monthly cost may seem high, but the “rent” you pay here includes many costs you pay separately at home. Utilities, for example. It’s essential to compare apples to apples, so to speak.
Costs vary at each campus based on the level of care you receive and, in some cases, the type of housing you choose. Our Cost of Living Calculator makes it easy to estimate and compare your monthly costs.
Sure! At Magnolia Manor, Independent Living, Catered Care Living, and Assisted Living residents are welcome to bring their cars.
We provide transportation for all Catered Care, Personal Care, and Assisted Living residents. We also offer scheduled transportation to local doctors’ appointments, as well as shopping at local stores and supermarkets for our residents.
In many cases, unless there is a waiting list at your desired campus, new residents are able to move in within 30 days of signing paperwork. You’ll also need a physician’s report and TB skin test before move-in.
There is much more to life at Magnolia Manor than a few FAQs can address! And we love to talk about our communities. For answers to your personal questions or to schedule a tour, contact us today at 1-855-540-LIFE(5433).
